Location
Casa Barú is the perfect spot to explore the city on foot.
Located in the heart of Scicli, just a few steps away from Palazzo Beneventano and from the City Hall, better known as the "Vigata police station" in the famous TV series "Il Commissario Montalbano", based on the books by A.Camilleri.
The house offers the only panoramic view of Via Mormino Penna, considered one of the most beautiful streets in Sicily and famous for its ensemble of 18th-century aristocratic buildings and late Baroque architecture.
History
Scicli is one of the most coveted cities of the Sicilian Baroque. It is a unique example of the creative genius of the late Baroque age, as it was completely reconstructed in the 18th century after the disastrous earthquake of 1693.
The municipality is famous for its romantic late Baroque architecture and is among the few UNESCO World Heritage sites in the Val di Noto.
About us
Casa Barú is more than a holiday home; it’s a family project, the result of complex restoration works in respect of the ancient history of the building and our love for interior design and sustainability.
It is also a love letter to our hometown, described by the notorious writer and poet Elio Vittorini, as “the most beautiful town in the world” or, as we would say, “la piú bella di tutte le cittá del mondo”.
We named it after our beloved dog, Barú, who bravely saved our family from a devastating fire and has been with us since 2012.
